Strategic settlements and constant investments have made Saarland an important location for all things automotive in Europe. One in six of the 100 highest-selling automotive suppliers in the world has a works in this state. In order to hold its own within global competition, Saarland set up the automotive.saarland cluster to provide support for the automotive industry. It networks the companies and R&D facilities of the automotive industry so knowledge and experience can be exchanged, skills and competencies bundled.
Since 2006, automotive.saarland has been based at what is now saaris – saarland.innovation&standort e. V. This initiative is supported by the state and the EU, and operates in constant contact with the VDA, the Chamber of Commerce, the automotive networks of the SaarLorLux metropolitan region, and other facilities both within and outside the state. Beyond the state’s borders, automotive. saarland is able to respond quickly and efficiently to is members’ requirements, which makes it the perfect interface when it comes to finding and making the right contacts.
Saarland utilises one of its key advantages here: it is a state of short distances. Where others are bigger, Saarland is faster.
Enterprise Europe Network
Business Support on your Doorstep
The Enterprise Europe Network helps businesses innovate and grow on an international scale. It is the world’s largest support network for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with international ambitions. The Network is active in more than 60 countries worldwide. It brings together 3,000 experts from more than 600 member organisations – all renowned for their excellence in business support.

A strong Community for Supply Chain Management, Procurement and Logistics
The Association for Supply Chain Management, Procurement and Logistics (BME), founded in 1954, is the professional association for supply chain managers, buyers and logisticians in Germany and Central Europe. We see ourselves as network partners for all industries and sectors: for example industry, trade, public institutions or the financial sector. Our objectives include the transfer of know-how through a constant exchange of experience, the training and further education of qualified personnel and the scientific work on new methods, procedures and techniques. In addition, the BME helps to open up new markets. Our Association also helps to shape economic processes and global developments.
Pôle Automobile Européen- PAE
The PAE project brings together nine German, Belgian, French and Luxembourg partners and three German associated partners under the coordination of the CCI Grand-Est.
The project is co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund via the Interreg VA Greater Region program. PAE’s main objective is to strengthen competitiveness and attractiveness of the Greater Region’s automotive industry through coordinated cross-border actions.
Its key objectives are:
- strengthen the presence of SMEs in the Greater Region (Saarland, Rhineland-Palatinate, Lorraine, Luxembourg, Wallonia) and adjacent regions (Alsace, Baden Württemberg, Champagne Ardenne, etc.) in foreign markets,
- improve the competitiveness of companies at the cross-border and international level (support to maintain a technological lead, adaptation of human resource skills to meet the development needs of new mobility and the industry of the future),
- reinforce cooperation between automotive clusters in the Greater Region, which are important tools for the sustainability of this approach.
PAE runs from July 2018 to December 2021 and is structured around seven axes:
